SKAI LAB SDN BHD ("SKAI LAB," "we," "us," or "our") operates RI9, a gamified exam-preparation platform available on the web at https://www.ri9.app, and as an iOS and Android application (together, the "Service"). RI9 helps students prepare for exams by completing timed challenges to earn points and prizes.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to students, parents, teachers, and schools. Please read it carefully. By creating an account or using RI9, you agree to the practices described here.

 

Notice regarding children under 13: RI9 is used by students of mixed ages, including children under 13. We comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and similar laws in other jurisdictions. See Section 7 — Children's Privacy for details on parental consent, parental rights, and the limits we place on data collection and advertising for younger users.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage & performance data: challenges completed, exam-prep scores, points earned, prizes won, time spent, session activity.

• Device & technical data: device type, operating system, browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, crash logs, and general app performance/analytics data.

• Cookies and similar technologies (web version): used for login sessions, remembering preferences, and analytics. See Section 6.

1.3 Information We Do Not Knowingly Collect

We do not knowingly collect precise geolocation, government ID numbers, or health information from any user, and we do not knowingly collect more information from children than is reasonably necessary to operate the challenge/points features of the Service.

2. How We Use Information

• To create and manage student, parent, and school accounts.

• To deliver exam-prep challenges, track progress, and calculate points and rewards.

• To fulfill and ship physical prizes, and to issue digital prizes/badges.

• To process payments (via Stripe) for subscriptions, school licenses, or purchases.

• To send service-related communications (account confirmations, progress updates, prize notifications).

• To maintain, secure, and improve the Service, including through aggregated or de-identified analytics.

• To show advertising, subject to the restrictions in Section 7 for users under 13.

• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Advertising

RI9 may display advertising within the Service to support free access to exam-prep content.

• Users under 13: only non-personalized, contextual advertising is shown. We do not use behavioral tracking or targeted advertising identifiers for this age group, in line with COPPA.

• Users 13 and older: standard advertising, which may be personalized, may be shown, subject to applicable law and any consent or opt-out mechanisms required in your region.

5. Cookies & Similar Technologies

The web version of RI9 uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, remembering settings, and analytics. Where required by law, we will request consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect functionality.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as the account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, accounting, or reporting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Parents or school administrators may request deletion of a student's account and associated data at any time (see Section 9).

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA & Similar Laws)

RI9 is used by children under the age of 13 in addition to teens and adults, so we take the following steps:

• Verifiable parental consent: where a child under 13 creates or uses an account that isn't set up directly by a school, we require a parent or guardian to provide consent before we collect personal information from the child, consistent with COPPA.

• School consent: where a school or teacher creates accounts for students under 13 as part of an educational program, the school may provide consent on behalf of parents for that limited educational use, consistent with FTC guidance on school-authorized ed-tech consent. Schools remain responsible for notifying parents.

• Data minimization: we limit the information collected from children under 13 to what is reasonably necessary for the challenge, points, and prize features to function.

• No behavioral advertising to children: as described in Section 4, only non-personalized ads are shown to users under 13.

• Parental rights: a parent or guardian may at any time:

  • Review the personal information we have collected from their child;

  • Request that we delete their child's personal information;

  • Refuse to permit further collection or use of their child's information, and request that the account be deactivated.

• To exercise these rights, a parent can contact us at help@ri9.app. We may need to verify the requester is the child's parent or guardian before processing the request.

8. Physical Prizes & Mailing Addresses

Where a challenge reward includes a physical prize, we (or our shipping partner) will use the mailing address provided to fulfill delivery. This address is used solely for prize fulfillment and is not used for advertising purposes.

9. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you (or a parent/guardian on behalf of a child) may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you or your child;

• Correct inaccurate information;

• Request deletion of personal information;

• Object to or restrict certain processing, including advertising;

• Request a copy of your data in a portable format;

• Withdraw consent previously given, at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

10. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption of stored passwords and secure transmission (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Data Transfers

RI9 may be used by students and schools in multiple countries. Where personal information is transferred across borders (for example, to cloud hosting or analytics providers), we take steps designed to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with applicable law
